Brethren Woods Camp & Retreat Center

Brethren Woods is a year-round camp and retreat center owned and operated by the Shenandoah District of the Church of the Brethren. We are located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, just 12 miles northeast of Harrisonburg.

Throughout the year, we host groups using our Challenge Course and Rental Facilities. During the summer months, coed day and resident Summer Camp programs are held for all ages. In the fall and spring, Outdoor School field trips bring elementary students for day-long outdoor education opportunities. We also feature a variety of Special Events and programs for women, men, parent-child pairs, and more!

In all that we do, we seek "to provide Christian educational opportunities, facilities, and programs for all ages in an inviting woodland setting; encouraging the formation of Christ-centered living, leadership, and stewardship of creation, leading toward wholeness in the kingdom of God."

Looking for a meaningful way to give back?
Brethren Woods Camp & Retreat Center, just 20 minutes from JMU, is always looking for energetic, college-age volunteers to help with programs, lead activities, and support campers. Whether it’s for a single day, a weekend, or longer, volunteering at camp is a great way to build leadership skills, gain hands-on experience working with kids, and make a real impact—while enjoying the outdoors!
