Volunteer: Nature Activity Cart Host: Add Impact to Arboretum Visitor Experience (Fall 2025)

Provide a fun enrichment experience for children and adults visiting the At Home in the Woods Family Garden. You will serve as Family Garden host for our activity cart full of educational activities for families. Interact with families using these materials. In case no visitors are there at the time, you can do essential light garden maintenance to help keep the space looking great.

Bus route directions: Black Line 2x per hour, ICS every 5 minutes, but you have to signal for the stop

Volunteer: Tour Guide/Educator/Family Garden Host or Interpretive Internship (in-person)

Tour Guides: Assist education staff with tours and educational programs, primarily for pre-K through 3rd grade students. Training and full semester commitment required. Most tours are weekday mornings. Busiest seasons are mid-Sept through mid-November and March through May. (Availability in May is especially helpful.)

Education volunteers: Needed year-round for programs & workshops, and special events such as Harvest Fest in October, Watershed Experiences in spring and fall, and Summer Camp sessions.

Family Garden Hosts: Two-hour shifts staffing an Activity Cart in the Family Garden area. Share additional educational materials to with families and groups. Available year-round in good weather.

Interpretive Internships: Requires a minimum 50 hrs/semester commitment and 3-4 hrs/wk during peak tour season. Internships are unpaid but may be eligible for credit with faculty approval.
