As a Remote Area Medical Clinic (RAM) volunteer, you will work with Food Bank staff and other volunteers to setup food, check in guests, and load food into guest vehicles as they are leaving the clinic.
As a RAM Clinic volunteer, you will help by:
- Checking in guests and asking them a few simple questions
- Unloading and setting up food for distribution
- Loading food into guests’ vehicles
- Working with Food Bank staff and other volunteers to ensure a smooth and efficient distribution
Special Considerations:
- Must be able to lift 30 pound boxes on and off of a pallet
- Ability to speak both English and either Spanish or Arabic a plus
- Interpersonal skills in relating to other volunteers and guests
- You will be on your feet the entire shift.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Location and Schedule Details:
This opportunity will take place on Saturday, October 25th, 2025 from 12:30pm-4pm. The Remote Area Medical Clinic is taking place at Rockingham Fair Grounds - 4808 S. Valley Pike Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
When You Arrive:
Sign in at the volunteer tent and locate the Hope Distributed Truck. RAM Clinic staff can direct you if you need assistance finding this.
What to Wear:
For safety reasons, volunteers attending food distributions must wear shoes that cover their whole foot (no sandals, flip flops, or crocs) and comfortable, appropriate clothes suitable for the weather of the day. You will be outside and there will be no cover, so please dress for the weather.
Inclement Weather:
We distribute food in all weather conditions, but the Food Bank will contact you directly if a distribution is closed due to unsafe weather conditions.
Training:
Food Bank staff will provide an overview of the Remote Area Medical Clinic food distribution program and will provide necessary training, supervision, and support.
