Student volunteers will collect trash and debris (within reason) from the stream banks and collect in provided trash bags and leave all collected trash in location easily accessible by JMU Recycling Staff. Students will be provided with gloves, and trash grabbers- provided that a Faculty/Staff Representative for the group is in charge of picking up and returning them to JMU Stormwater Staff.
JMU Stormwater Staff will contact you to share our JMU Stream Clean-Up Safety Tips sheet for all to review, and for your groups faculty/staff representative name and contact information so they can provide a department/org code. We will also ask for your desired clean up date, and how many students are in your group. Once everyone in your group has completed the Liability Form (linked below), the location needing cleaned up (selected based on need and size of group) as well as a map of the location denoting your trash drop off point will be shared with you. Please notify your Faculty/Staff Representative that they will be required to pick up and drop off all supplies (except filled trash bags) within 3 business days of clean up. The date of your clean up event is up to you, BUT the drop off and pick up of supplies to JMU Stormwater Staff in USB Suite 202 is during our working hours of Monday-Friday 7:30 AM-4:00 PM.
If equipment loaned out to you is not returned within 3 business days following the agreed upon clean up date, the faculty/staff representatives department/org will be charged a total replacement fee of $41.67( + shipping and handling ) per trash grabber.
