Who We Are

We are a small, active volunteer organization with 1 paid part-time staff located in Augusta County.

FOMR promotes the stewardship and enjoyment of the Middle River Watershed through volunteer action, education, science, and outreach. Our vision is for a healthy and clean Middle River thanks to the voluntary conservation practices by everyone in the watershed.

What We Do

Our greatest number of volunteers are needed for the following activities:

  • an annual river cleanup to remove trash that utilizes about 100 volunteers over the course of a week in early to mid August annually.
  • smaller-scale trash cleanups in Staunton and Augusta County in early June

We have many volunteer ways to be involved with the organization including:

  • staffing our tables and activities at public education events such as Earth Day Staunton or Riverfest (April)
