RMH Foundation

The Rockingham Memorial Hospital (RMH) Foundation inspires philanthropy to promote wellbeing and advance Sentara RMH Medical Center's mission to improve health every day  in our community. Sentara RMH has been able to significantly improve the care patients receive because of gifts from our caring and generous community. 

One hundred percent of donations directly benefit patients and our community through the purchase of new equipment and support of compassionate programs.

Mr. William Glodomore Leake made a gift through his estate in 1908 leading to the opening of Sentara RMH in 1912. He had a generous philanthropic spirit and a desire to help secure the best in healthcare for our local community. Through his generosity, Mr. Leake set a standard of excellence that has been perpetuated by each and every person, business, and civic organization that so generously supports Sentara RMH.

Each year, one out of every two people in our community will need care at Sentara RMH Medical Center. And virtually every patient who walks through our doors benefits from the generosity of our donors, such as:

• The cancer survivor who beats his disease with the help of the latest treatment options
• The mom holding her newborn comforted by a warm blanket
• The heart attack victim saved with the newest surgical tools available
• Or the thousands of other patients whose care is enhanced because generous friends like you care about having the best medical services available to our family, friends and neighbors here in our own backyard.
