The mission of the Harrisonburg Rockingham Social Services District is the promotion of self-reliance and protection of citizens through community-based services.
The agency’s strong belief is that all children need and deserve a safe environment and permanency, a permanent connection to a family. The agency promotes the idea that children need lifelong family connections and aims to serve children in their own home and community whenever possible.
Harrisonburg Rockingham Social Services District (HRSSD) serves over 45 thousand unique individuals per year with the mission of promotion of self-reliance and protection of citizens through eligible benefits programs, community-based services and supportive resources.
Increased positive outcomes can be reached by a collaborative effort for children and families to grow and prosper. Our success is dependent upon the partnership of community child serving agencies, development of creative, individualized solutions and open communication. Families have many challenges, including access to substance treatment services, behavioral health services, housing, employment, and transportation services.
