Every Campus a Refuge

Every Campus A Refuge (ECAR) is a national effort to mobilize colleges and universities to host refugees on campus grounds and support them in their resettlement. The vision is to transform the landscape of refugee resettlement and higher education by creating thousands of sustainable resettlement campus ecosystems. 

At JMU, we work with Church World Service and regional community partners to support refugee families as they acclimate to the area.

Every Campus A Refuge at JMU hosts families upon arrival and supports a softer landing in Harrisonburg by providing friendship, connections, tutoring, and support with tasks like transportation and scheduling medical appointments.
