Civics in the Shade Event

Join us for a fun, interactive community event celebrating civic engagement and American history — Civics in the Shade! We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help us create a welcoming, educational experience for visitors of all ages.

We’re seeking up to 8 volunteers to assist in a variety of important roles. Training will be provided as needed.

Volunteer Roles

Welcome Table (1-2 volunteers)
Be the friendly face of the event! Greet attendees, hand out materials, and direct them to the pizza, activities, and exhibitors.

• You'll be stationed at a table with event signage and promotional materials.
  
  

Pizza & Drinks Station (2 volunteers)
Help keep our guests fueled and refreshed! Volunteers will serve pizza and assist with pouring water and lemonade.

• Requires light lifting and standing behind tables.
  
  

Button Making Station (1 volunteer)
Lead one of our most popular activities! Help visitors use the button maker and provide guidance with designs and civic themes.

• Training provided ahead of time.
  
  

• Supplies, materials, and civic engagement signage will be ready for you.
  
  

Civic Questions Assistant (1-2 volunteers)
Roam the event and encourage thoughtful dialogue. Refill discussion cards, collect answers, and help monitor our “Wish Wall” activity.

• Perfect for someone outgoing and curious about civic engagement.
  
  

• Light walking and interaction required.
  
  

Set-Up / Take-Down Support (1-2 volunteers)
Help us make it all happen behind the scenes! Volunteers will assist with tables, tents, and ensuring exhibitors have what they need.

• Includes check-ins with exhibitors during the event and assisting with event wrap-up.
